The idea of The Equestrian Store was sparked through the lifetime interest of horses and the world of equestrian sports of Sharon McGinn (nee Murphy), Company Director.
In July of 2008 the Murphy family aimed towards a further expansion of already existing business by obtaining full ownership of the yard/premises in Portadown, County Armagh. The scope which the yard/premises created meant that equestrian orientated Sharon could develop and bring The Equestrian Store into reality. In August of 2008 The Equestrian Store had its official opening and since then has expanded in size, stock and supply.
Sharon had recognised that there was a gap in the market for an equestrian store so ideally located within the already existing yard. There where existing equestrian stores within close enough proximity however she felt that a store located in such a valuable and easily accessible location would be an ideal preference to many customers.
The Equestrian Store, even at this early stage, has established a reputation for stocking one of the largest range of equestrian brand names throughout Ireland, from Animo to Woof Wear and caters for all levels of equestrian interest from Young Rider to the professional.
The Equestrian Store prides itself on providing a personal world-class customer experience from saddle fitting to safety wear fitting, with expert and professional advice available.
The Equestrian Store has also built a reputation for sourcing the latest equestrian styles and making them available to the public, being an exclusive retailer for the innovative and stylish Italian brand, Animo throughout Ireland. As well as stocking KEP Italia and Acavallo, and French brand Freejump, which includes a range of stirrups, footwear and mini-chaps.
EQS is a brand that has been developed by The Equestrian Store over the past two years. EQS products include saddles, bridles, girths and lots more leatherwork, equine feed and, in the coming months, body protectors and a range of casual wear. The EQS brand offers the highest quality of products. Its mission is to develop products with endurance, quality and style, while providing both horse and rider with a great experience.
The number of staff on the Mahon Road site has grown to 15 - amazing growth for the short period that the business has been in operation and, particularly, with the gloomy economic situation that has been reported in the media over the period.
The Equestrian Store has also been very successful with their website business and has exported products to destinations as far as Argentina, Australia and Japan - in fact, they are now a truly international business and have supplied to all continents! They hope to continue to expand this side of the business, with their commitment to customer service, fulfilling and despatching orders on time all key to their success to date.
